  Welcome!

Anyone with a love of nature is invited to participate in our meetings, trips, workshops, community projects and information sharing.

Located in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, the Woods Garden Club was formed in 2001.  Our meetings are open to all; you do not have to live in The Woods.  From March through October, our monthly meetings include a presentation from an expert in some field of interest to our members. Other activities include bus trips, garden tours and socials, educational opportunities for kids, and local landscaping and community service projects.

We have created this website to keep you informed of our activities and to be a source of gardening and related resources.

2025 Club Meeting Schedule -- Our Upcoming Meeting

Wednesday, July 16, 1:00 pm,  Designing Resilient Native Plantings

How to put native plants together into  cohesive, aesthetically pleasing, functional and resilient, low-maintenance plantings. Ideal gardens provide both visual beauty and environmental benefit, without increasing maintenance burdens. These resilient gardens are designed with a "layered" approach using plants that possess specific traits. Join James Dillon, PA Certified Horticulturist, and owner of Native Havens LLC, as he analyzes functional and aesthetic traits of plants such as: plant form, flower shape, growth habit, leaf/flower texture, ecological value, and root morphology. A plant list packed with information will be available by email, with over 100 plants that are organized into functional categories that will help you to start effectively designing with native plants in your garden.

Our full schedule can be found here.  If you would like a sample digital copy of our Member Newsletter, send your request to woodsgardenclub@gmail.com.

Native Trees Project May Repeat This Fall With a Grant From Cacapon Institute

Our club received another grant this spring to facilitate the purchase by Woods residents of native trees at very reasonable prices. The program provided a total of 19 families with a total of 68 trees.  We have applied to participate again this fall and are awaiting confirmation that this project will continue.
